Project Aurora & Maalaga

At vzw Chinta, we are dedicated to developing sustainable solutions for the healthcare sector. Project Aurora and Project Maalaga are two pioneering initiatives that aim to address the pressing shortage of healthcare professionals in Flanders while fostering ethical, reciprocal migration partnerships with non-EU countries.

Our Approach

Both projects are founded on ethical recruitment principles, ensuring fair working conditions, professional development, and respect for the rights of healthcare workers. We work in close partnership with:

Flemish healthcare and educational institutions
Local governments and policy-makers
Training and support organizations in the countries of origin

By fostering co-creation, responsibility, and innovation, Project Aurora and Project Maalaga contribute to a stronger, more diverse, and sustainable healthcare system in Flanders.

Project Aurora

Project Aurora is a groundbreaking initiative that focuses on recruiting and integrating skilled healthcare professionals from India into the Flemish healthcare sector.

Key Objectives:

After a successful pilot phase in India, Project Aurora is is still expanding but at the same time ensuring high-quality. Anno 2025 a 5th group of Indian Nurses will start their Dutch training in Kerala.

Project Maalaga

"Maalaga", derived from Filipino, means "to care for", reflecting the core values of this initiative. Project Maalaga is focused on recruiting Filipino healthcare professionals, who are known for their strong care ethic and expertise in patient-centered care.

Key Objectives:

Facilitate the ethical recruitment of healthcare professionals from the Philippines to Flanders.

Provide comprehensive training in language, cultural adaptation, and professional skills to ensure a smooth transition.

Strengthen bilateral cooperation between Flemish and Filipino healthcare institutions to create a sustainable exchange of expertise.

Maalaga is built on principles of dignity, reciprocity, and co-creation, ensuring that both the healthcare professionals and the communities they serve benefit from this collaboration.
